PFIA Training

The Public Funds Investment Act (PFIA) governs the investment of government funds in Texas. Under this law, specific parameters are set for Texas cities, requiring them to adopt an investment policy and to designate an investment officer who is required to attend an approved training course.

AWBD is dedicated to ensuring our members have the right information to meet the state’s PFIA certification requirements.

Under HB 675, which became effective in May, 2001, special requirements apply to districts governed by Chapters 36 and 49 of the Texas Water Code. Specifically, for these districts, the investment officer must take six hours of initial training and four hours of renewal training every two years thereafter.

Regional PFIA training

The North Central Texas Council of Government offers PFIA training workshops in person or online. In person courses are held at the NCTCOG offices in Arlington or offsite at various locations throughout North Texas.
