Regional Flood Planning: Play a Role and Help Your Community

The San Jacinto Regional Flood Planning Group (the SJRFPG) is working hard to complete its Regional Flood Plan.  Water districts can play an integral role in developing the Regional Flood Plan. If you have not provided input on the Regional Flood Planning process, please take our quick survey about flooding in your community.

In December 2021, the SJRFPG approved the first installment of the Technical Memorandum to submit to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) as a preliminary check on the SJRFPG’s progress towards the complete Regional Flood Plan.  The Technical Memorandum submitted to TWDB on Jan. 7, 2022 provides an overview of various tasks, processes used, and data collected.

In February 2022, the SJRFPG Technical Committee recommended that the Technical Consultant proceed with the development of the second installment of the Technical Memorandum to develop a regional understanding of both existing and future flood risk to be submitted to TWDB on March 7, 2022.

AWBD will continue to provide updates on the regional flood plan.  For regional flood plans across Texas, visit https://www.twdb.texas.gov/flood/planning/index.asp.
